Contrary Family of Desiderata

The Contrary family live in this one story home.

This is the original layout from the front of the house.  Sorry if it's hard to see.

I generally play from the back of the lot.  This is the home post quick makeover.  Not perfect but it's a place to start.

And who are the Contrary Family?

Edward Contrary - Knowledge - LTW City Planner - currently working in Oceanography - 9 days till elder

Rick Contrary (post makeover) - Fortune - LTW World Class Ballet Dancer

Rick begins as enemies with both his parents.  Fun.

Upon entering the lot, we find Edward fainted from heat exhaustion.  Opal quickly flings water at him to revive him.

Edward and Opal have some very definite wants right out of the gate.  Even with Edward already overheated, the couple head to the bedroom to fulfill those wants.

Rick greets the welcome wagon.  It's Hannah and Issac Bell along with Natasha Una.  They join a few walkbys that have already been greeted.

The family ditched their visitors and headed downtown to buy cellphones.   

Edward and Rick played some chess.  They are now tentative friends.

Immediately after arriving home, Edward got a call inviting him on an outing.  With Rick in tow, he headed back downtown.

It turned out to be a casual outing so Edward kept it pretty short.  Just a little socializing with friends and then he headed on home.

Yes.  I think the father/son relationship is on an upswing.  

Edward and Opal started their new careers in architecture.  No promotion.  Instead, Opal goes on maternity leave.  The Contrary family will be having a late in life baby.

Edward teaches Rick to study while Opal sleeps.  She seems to stay tired and hungry.

When she feels well enough, Opal is studying.  She's obsessed with learning to cook new foods.  She has food on the brain.

Edward earns his first promotion.

Edward had just arrived home from work when Opal realized it was time.  The baby was coming now.

Edward missed the birth of his daughter by minutes. 

Meet Ruby Contrary.  Beloved daughter of Edward & Opal.

The craft room was converted into a nursery.  Ruby now has one of the biggest rooms in the house all to herself.

At dinner, Rick introduced his parents to his new friend Johnny Smith.

Opal earns a promotion.

Yes, that's the Opal I remember.  Now that the pregnancy hormones are out of her system, Opal is back to her old tricks.  No one is safe from her harassment. 

Rick discovers his natural hobby, sports.  And just in the nick of time.  His waistline has started bulging.

Ruby Contrary - Cancer - 9-2-10-8-6

Ruby has a birthday

Rick takes his scholarships and heads for university.  He is no longer enemies with his mom but he doesn't like her.  He's not fond of little Ruby either.

With Rick gone that leave Edward and Opal to teach Ruby her toddler skills.  

But that will be done next season.
